PCP WISE was proudly represented at the EuroGEO Workshop 2025, held from 13–15 October 2025 in The Hague, Netherlands.
Hans Van Leeuwen from STOWA took part as a speaker in the session “Communication at the Heart of EuroGEO: Shaping a Connected and Collaborative EO Ecosystem” on Tuesday, 14 October, from 17:00 to 18:00.
This engaging session emphasized that communication is not just a support function — it is a catalyst for connection, collaboration, and impact. The discussion explored how strategic communication unites the diverse and multidisciplinary Earth Observation (EO) community, which includes scientists, data providers, technologists, policymakers, private sector innovators, educators, media, and civil society.
While this diversity fuels innovation, it can also lead to fragmentation — with different actors operating separately, speaking different “languages,” or being unaware of one another’s breakthroughs. The session highlighted how communication bridges these divides, builds shared understanding and collective purpose, and strengthens the EuroGEO vision of an open, inclusive, and collaborative EO ecosystem.
Moderated by Aspasia Trevlaki, Communication and Dissemination Specialist at the National Observatory of Athens, the panel featured:
-
Marina Guillen, European Commission (DG RTD)
-
Jasper Wamsteker, Netherlands Space Office (NSO)
-
Alexandre Brecher, iClimateAction Project
-
Hans Van Leeuwen, PCP WISE Project
-
Alan Mandrillon, SPACE4Cities & VALORADA Projects
Representing PCP WISE, Hans shared insights on satellite applications for agriculture and water management, emphasizing how clear, consistent communication enhances the visibility and impact of EO technologies and fosters collaboration across sectors.
The EuroGEO Workshop 2025, co-organized by the European Commission, EuroGEO Secretariat, and the Netherlands Space Office (NSO), brought together leading experts and initiatives to accelerate Europe’s contribution to global EO efforts and to reinforce the role of Earth Intelligence in addressing key societal challenges — from climate resilience to sustainable development.
👏 A special thank you to PCP WISE partners Roland van de Boel (Het Waterschapshuis) and Davoud Omarzadeh (IEEC, Spain), who also attended the workshop and contributed to strengthening our project’s presence and collaboration within the EuroGEO community.
