Briefly introduce your organisation

The i2CAT research centre drives advanced digital solutions through applied research and innovation. The centre has over 20 years of multi-technology expertise in 5G/6G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Space Communications, Immersive, Interactive, and Digital Society Technologies. With an approach focused on knowledge transfer, i2CAT generates a tangible impact on the economy and improves people’s lives by connecting public administration, private enterprise, the scientific community and citizens. I2CAT is part of the CERCA network and is accredited by the TECNIO certification. 

Introduce the team working on PCP WISE within your organisation

Pol Guixé Jové works at the i2CAT Foundation helping translate space technologies into practical solutions for public and private organisations. He focuses on identifying real needs, developing use cases, and supporting innovation projects that apply satellite communications, data, and emerging space capabilities to everyday operational challenges. 

Marcel Marín is professional in the field of Aerospace Engineering, with a profile specialized in Space and Drones BsC in Aerospace Technologies and with a MsC in Aerospace engineering. He focuses on translating space communications solutions into emerging solutions and perform research in new NTN communication protocols.    

What is your organisation’s role in the project? What unique contribution does it bring to PCP WISE?

I2CAT provides support to the Catalan entities tasks with identifying and attracting use cases in Spain and the Catalan region. I2CAT identifies possible synergies between EO and IoT NTN solutions.  

To what extent do you think PCP WISE will contribute to enhance Europe’s ability to adapt to and mitigate the effect of climate change?

The proposed solution will allow Europe to better understand and manage all the water-related issues that the climate crisis is bringing. This solution will allow the government and local entities to plan and react with precise information 

To what extent do you think Environmental Observation (EO) and Innovation Procurement (IP) can help develop innovative solutions for water management and climate resilience across Europe?

It is essential that Earth Observation starts to be broadly adopted tool for innovation procurements, this technic and its derivative solutions will provide advance information for water management and climate resilience.
