PCP WISE proudly took part in this year’s Smart City Expo World Congress, in Barcelona, sharing its vision for climate resilience, innovation, and collaboration in public procurement.
Throughout the week, Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) and Forum Virium Helsinki represented the project across several sessions, engaging with cities, innovators, and policy leaders on how space-based data, satellite imagery, and Earth Observation (EO) can help build smarter and more sustainable cities. 🚀
🔹 PCP WISE Highlights at the Expo
The project featured prominently in multiple sessions organised by ACCIÓ, the Enterprise Europe Network, and the Generalitat de Catalunya, including:
- Cities’ Challenges – Innovation Playground Stage: PCP WISE was invited by ACCIÓ to present within the Cities’ Challenges track, alongside representatives from Japan, Rome, Paris, and the Port of Barcelona. Davoud Omarzadeh (IEEC) delivered an overview of the project and its €12M Call for Tenders, showcasing opportunities for innovators to collaborate with European cities through pre-commercial procurement.
- Nordics & Baltics Pavilion: Project Manager Meri Vainio (Forum Virium Helsinki) highlighted how PCP WISE uses satellite data for water management and supports the development of climate-resilient solutions across Europe.
- In addition, PCP WISE participated in the training session “Innovate with Government: Unlocking Public Procurement Opportunities” hosted by ACCIÓ and the Enterprise Europe Network, where Davoud Omarzadeh (IEEC) shared insights into how public procurement can drive innovation and sustainability across the EU.
💡 Collaboration for Climate Resilience
The event provided an invaluable platform to exchange with city representatives, researchers, and entrepreneurs on leveraging EO technologies and public procurement of innovation to tackle water and climate challenges in both urban and rural contexts.
The PCP WISE team thanks all participants and partners who joined the discussions — and looks forward to continuing these collaborations toward a more resilient, sustainable future for Europe. 🌊
