Phase 3 : Validation and demonstration of the solutions
During Phase 3, the two remaining consortia are invited to validate and demonstrate their solutions in real-life operational environments. Over a six-month period, contractors will further refine and adapt their prototypes in line with the PCP objectives and the requirements of the targeted public services.
This phase focuses on the field testing of the developed solutions, enabling the verification and comparison of their performance in terms of interoperability, scalability, robustness, and overall fitness for purpose under real operational conditions. Each consortium receives up to €1,532,669 to support the execution of these activities and to advance towards pre-commercialisation.
Validation is carried out across diverse scenarios, following the verification and validation strategy defined earlier in the PCP process. A continuous feedback loop is established between the Public Buyers Group and the contractors, allowing end users to provide direct input and request improvements, thereby ensuring that the solutions effectively address operational needs.
Contractors are required to deliver key outputs, confirming the successful deployment and validation of the solutions in real-life environments. The phased evaluation process enables the progressive identification of the solutions offering the best value for money, while ensuring compliance with user requirements.
Overall, this phased PCP approach, combined with increasing contract values, facilitates iterative development, incorporates lessons learned at each stage, and lowers market entry barriers, thereby supporting the participation and growth of SMEs within the innovation ecosystem.
