Phase 2 has officially begun!
After five months of research, solution development and dialogue with end-users and public buyers, Phase 1 “Solution Design” of PCP WISE has come to an end.
Throughout this first phase, the five selected consortia worked on developing and refining their Solution Designs, translating the needs and requirements of PCP WISE public buyers and use cases into concrete approaches for future climate-resilient water management solutions.
An important milestone took place during the PCP WISE Workshop in Helsinki, where the consortia had the opportunity to meet project partners, including public buyers and support organisations. Each consortium presented its solution individually and confidentially, providing an important opportunity for exchange and further refinement of their Solution Designs.
Three consortia moving forward
Following the completion of Phase 1 and its evaluation process, the competitive selection has now been concluded. We are pleased to announce the three consortia selected to continue their journey into Phase 2:

From Solution Design to Prototype Development
PCP WISE now officially enters Phase 2 “Prototype Development”, an 11-month phase during which the three consortia will turn their validated Solution Designs into functional prototypes.
Contractors will develop, integrate and test their prototypes in controlled laboratory environments, ensuring alignment with the requirements and the five use cases. This stage will enable the technical performance of the solutions to be assessed under reproducible conditions while progressively reducing technological risks ahead of future real-life validation.
To support this significant step in the innovation process, each selected consortium will receive up to €2.4 million for the development, integration and testing of its prototype.
The transition to Phase 2 brings PCP WISE one step closer to turning innovative concepts into operational solutions capable of supporting public authorities in addressing droughts, floods and other water-related climate challenges across Europe.
