On 19 June 2025, the PCP WISE project was in the spotlight during a special edition of EOcafe, the biweekly virtual meet-up hosted by EARSC (European Association of Remote Sensing Companies). The session, titled “Building Resilience with PCP WISE: EO-Driven Innovation for Water Management in Europe,” brought together key stakeholders to explore the project’s role in advancing climate resilience through Earth Observation (EO) technology.

Moderated by Tanya Walker, Market Development Officer at EARSC, the EOcafe featured insights from:

  • Hans van Leeuwen – Program Leader, STOWA

  • Ana Isabel Peiró Baquedano – Senior Legal Procurement Consultant, Corvers Procurement Services

Together, the speakers provided an engaging overview of the PCP WISE initiative, highlighting:

  • The project’s origins and connection to the earlier PROTECT project

  • A total of €19M in funding opportunities, including €12M dedicated to R&D

  • The pressing challenges PCP WISE aims to tackle across water and climate resilience

  • The types of EO-based solutions the project is seeking — from flood forecasting to drought detection and wildfire risk monitoring

  • Opportunities for companies, researchers, and innovators to participate in the pre-commercial procurement process

  • What lies ahead for this ambitious Horizon Europe initiative

The virtual session drew participants from across the EO community — from solution developers to public authorities — underscoring the growing interest in using EO to address Europe’s water-related risks.

For those who couldn’t attend, more information about PCP WISE and upcoming opportunities to get involved is available on our project website.

We thank EARSC for the opportunity to share our work with the EO community and look forward to continuing the conversation on innovative approaches to climate and water resilience across Europe.
