How can Earth Observation and space-based water intelligence contribute to more resilient ecosystems and climate-resilient water management? And how can we ensure that these technologies address the real needs of those managing our natural environments?

On 17 September 2026, PCP WISE was represented at Natuur Futuur, a new annual symposium and networking event organised by the Flemish Agency for Nature and Forest (Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos). Bringing together nearly 1,000 professionals from public authorities, municipalities, nature management organisations, research institutes, consultancies and other organisations, the event provided an excellent opportunity for PCP WISE to connect with a wider community of potential users, public buyers and future replicators.

Bringing PCP WISE closer to future users

Representing PCP WISE at the event, Klaas Pauly from Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide presented the project at the PCP WISE booth and engaged with participants throughout the day.

With its strong focus on innovation, data collaboration and the future of nature management, Natuur Futuur offered a particularly relevant setting to introduce PCP WISE and discuss how Earth Observation (EO) and Space-based Water Intelligence (SWV) can support organisations working on the ground.

The discussions provided an opportunity to better understand the needs and expectations of potential end users, while also exploring how the solutions developed through PCP WISE could contribute to environmental monitoring and climate-resilient water management.

From space-based data to practical applications

Among the topics discussed at the PCP WISE booth were:

  • 🛰️ The potential of Earth Observation and Space-based Water Intelligence to support climate-resilient water management;
  • 🌿 The needs and expectations of future users working in nature and environmental management;
  • 💧 Potential applications of PCP WISE solutions for nature monitoring and environmental management;
  • 🔄 Future uptake and replication opportunities, helping bring innovative solutions beyond the project’s initial use cases.

Engaging directly with professionals from the nature and environmental sector is particularly valuable as PCP WISE moves forward with the development and testing of innovative solutions. Feedback from potential users and replicators can help ensure that these solutions are not only technologically advanced, but also relevant, usable and aligned with real-world water management challenges.

Expanding the PCP WISE community

Participation in events such as Natuur Futuur is an important part of PCP WISE’s efforts to build a wider ecosystem around Earth Observation, water intelligence and climate resilience.

By connecting with organisations outside the project’s initial consortium and use cases, PCP WISE can identify new communities interested in the solutions being developed and explore opportunities for their future uptake, replication and wider deployment.
